ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The words have been uttered by numerous champions from all across the realm of collegiate and professional sports in years past. After claiming the title, the first five words out of an athlete's mouth are often times "We're going to Disney World." On Sunday, the UCF women's basketball team, recently crowned the Conference USA Tournament champions, took time away from on-court preparations for the upcoming NCAA Tournament to hang out at the Magic Kingdom.
The Knights' players and coaching staff were joined by the team's support staff and families as the group enjoyed rides such as Space Mountain and It's a Small World while also checking out the parade and fireworks at the end of the night. In between there was time for a hula hoop contest, with sophomore Chelsie Wiley (Riviera Beach, Fla.) being crowned the unanimous winner.
UCF ran through the C-USA Tournament last weekend with four wins in four days to win the league title for the first time since joining the league and also earn the program's first berth in the NCAA Tournament since 1999.
Head coach Joi Williams and her Knights will learn its NCAA Tournament fate Monday as ESPN airs Selection Monday and releases the bracket live at 7 p.m. UCF will play a first round game on either March 21 or 22 at one of 16 predetermined sites around the nation.
