Frisell, Serrot Claim C-USA Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

March 10, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Head coach Stephanie Nickitas made a slight change to the UCF women's tennis doubles lineup for its match against Georgia Southern Feb. 13. The move has paid off as her No. 1 doubles team of senior Elvira Serrot and sophomore Jenny Frisell has gone on to earn Conference USA Players of the Week the league office announced Tuesday.

The Serrot and Frisell combination currently owns a perfect 6-0 record at the No. 1 position, including a 2-0 mark last week. They got things started March 2 against NC State, defeating the No. 33-ranked pair in the country in Berkeley Brock and Lenka Hojkova, 8-4.

That was not the only upset they posted. Serrot and Frisell came right back against the No. 11 doubles squad in Duke's Melissa Mang and Amanda Granson March 6. The UCF tandem cruised out to a 7-0 lead before finishing them off, 8-3.

It was Serrot's third-career weekly accolade handing out by C-USA, while it was the first award for Frisell.

UCF holds a 6-4 overall record, and is back in action today at Tulane.
