GAINESVILLE, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF track and field continued its preparations for the Conference USA Indoor Championships Saturday, competing in the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track and Field Meet at the Stephen O'Connell Center in Gainesville, Fla. The Knights posted eight top-five finishes in the event, including claiming four of the top five spots in the 3,000-meter run.

Jamie Rzepecki took first in the 3,000-meters, running the event in 10:27.72 while Allison Palmer finished second (10:29.00), Erica Weitz (10:30.08) took third and Ocean Cohen (10:37.79) rounded out the top five.

In the shot put, junior Kelsey Poljansek fell just short of breaking her own school record but still finished in third place with a toss of 47-2.50/43.39.

Freshman Jacquelyn Gilchrist fared well in the long jump, finishing in fourth place with a jump of 17-9.0/5.41, tying her personal best while at UCF.

Kathia and Katrina Skinner both finished with top-five finishes in the 800-meter run and the mile respectively. Kathia Skinner took third in the 800-meters with a time of 2:20.37 while Katrina Skinner claimed fourth in the mile, crossing in 5:18.79.

Next weekend UCF will compete in two different invitational meets with some of the team going to Fayetteville, Ark., to participate in the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 13-14 and other athletes competing in the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Saturday, Feb. 14.
