ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF track and field team will continue its 2009 indoor season Saturday, traveling to Gainesville, Fla., for the Jimmy Carnes Indoor Track and Field Meet at the at the Stephen O'Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida.
Competition in the collegiate open meet begins with the long jump at 4 p.m. and will conclude with the 4x400 relay at 9:05 p.m. Last week at the Penn State National, freshman Aisha-Maree Frazier, sophomore Lizzie Harris, senior Shantile Blackburn and freshman Sheila Paul teamed up for a school record, finishing the event second in 3:46.28 to best the previous mark set in 2008.
In the relay, freshman Aisha-Maree Frazier, sophomore Lizzie Harris, senior Shantile Blackburn and freshman Sheila Paul teamed up to break the school record with a time of 3:46.28, besting the previous mark set in 2008.
In the same event, junior Kelsey Poljansek broke the school record for the third-straight week in the shot put with a toss of 47-3.50/14.41m and senior Shantile Blackburn broke the school record she previously owned, finishing the 800-meter invitational run in 2:09.13. Junior Tiki James and freshman Jackie Coward tied for the school record in the 60-meter hurdles and set an NCAA provisional qualifying mark for the third-straight meet.
