Joe Burnett Stands Out at NFL Combine

Feb. 28, 2009

Orlando, Fla. (www.UCFAthletics.com) - Joe Burnett, Conference USA's top return threat for his entire career at UCF and one of the school's best all-time cornerbacks, ran a 4.49 on his first 40-yard dash, and then a 4.54 on his second try at the recent NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Burnett also put up 22 reps on the bench. Several members of the media wrote that he did raise his draft stock at the Combine.

"Joe Burnett is a great player," said Denver Broncos Pro Bowl receiver and former UCF standout Brandon Marshall to InsideKnights.com. "He will surprise some people on the next level."

NFL Network Draft Analyst Mike Mayock started by saying...

"Joe Burnett is a very good player."

Mayock then went on to name Burnett the Golden Corral "Best Value" among cornerbacks during the network's coverage. Mayock feels Burnett can be a strong performer in nickel coverage and as a kick/punt returner.

UCF will be playing seven regularly scheduled home games at Bright House Networks Stadium for the first time in the facility's three-year existence. The Knights were fortunate to play seven home games in 2007 with the final contest being the Conference USA Championship Game.
