UCF Women's Basketball Announces 2 for $2 Special for Final Two Home Contests

Feb. 23, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With its final two home contests of the 2008-09 season this week, the UCF women's basketball program has announced an opportunity for Knights fans to come out and support the team with a 2 for $2 promotion. With pivotal Conference USA games at UCF Arena set Thursday against Memphis and Sunday afternoon against UAB, fans can purchase tickets for both games for just two dollars total.

Head coach Joi Williams has her team sitting at 9-5 in C-USA play and just one game behind a trio of teams tied for first at 10-4. The Knights' success on their home court has been a key reason for the team's school-record nine C-USA wins. At UCF Arena in league play, the squad has a perfect 6-0 record with an average margin of victory of over 10 points per game.

UCF will be looking to end a three-game slide on Thursday night when they host Memphis at 7 p.m. eastern time. Getting 34 points and 20 rebounds from sophomore Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.), the Knights defeated Memphis 85-67 on the road on Jan. 8.

Three days later, the Knights close out the regular season on Sunday afternoon, with the tip-off for the game against UAB slated for 3 p.m. UCF rallied from a two-point halftime deficit to defeat the Blazers 74-67 in Birmingham on Jan. 10. Sophomore Chelsie Wiley (Riviera Beach, Fla.) scored 21 in the win for the Knights.

Cannon and Wiley will both look to post strong finishes to impressive seasons which could land them all-conference accolades. Cannon has posted 15 double-doubles, averaging 15.1 points and a league-leading 10.9 rebounds per outing. Wiley has eight 20-point games and is scoring 14.1 points per contest while shooting 44.8 percent from long range.
