ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Senior Breanne Javier (Castaic, Calif.) was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored as she paced the UCF softball team to a thrilling, 2-1, victory over Boston College (4-5) Saturday afternoon at the UCF Softball Complex. But, the Knights (8-7) could not keep up with Oklahoma State (7-4) in the nightcap, falling, 2-0, to the Cowgirls in their final game of the UCF Comfort Suites Invitational.

The Black and Gold posted a 3-1 record at their home tournament, picking up wins over both Portland State and Illinois-Chicago on Friday.

Besides Javier, junior Mary Helen Tyler (Marianna, Fla.) posted two hits, a double and the game-winning RBI for the home team in the win over Boston College, while fellow junior Hillary Barrow (Miami, Fla.) added a double and plated the tying run in the sixth.

Ashleigh Cole (Pace, Fla.) picked up her third-straight win in the circle for UCF after allowing only one earned run on six hits in a complete-game outing.

Cole and Taylor Peyton, the Eagles' starting pitcher, became entangled in a pitchers duel early as the game remained scoreless through four innings. Boston College finally managed to tack on the first run of the game in the top of the fifth inning, but the Knights had some firepower left up their sleeves for the sixth frame.

A double off the centerfield wall by Javier to lead off the bottom of the sixth started the Knights rolling. Barrow followed suit, perfectly placing a double down the right field to plate Javier and even the score, 1-1. The two-bagger from Barrow put the go-ahead run in scoring position for Tyler, who knocked Barrow in with the third double of the inning for the game-winning run.

In the nightcap, the Knights could only record two hits off of Oklahoma State starter, Sarah Odom. Freshman Vanessa Perez (San Diego, Calif.) and senior Lindsay Dean (Jacksonville, Fla.) each posted one of UCF's hits in the contests.

Kristina DeMello (Mead, Wash.) was tagged with the loss in the circle for the Black and Gold despite allowing only two runs on five hits in 7.0 innings of work.

UCF will hit the dirt again Tuesday when it hosts Centenary at 3 p.m. in a weekday contest, before hosting a three-team round robin on Wednesday with Bethune-Cookman and Eastern Michigan. UCF will play the Wildcats at 4 p.m. and the Eagles at 6 p.m.

Season tickets are on sale now for the 2009 softball season, which features 34 home games at the UCF Softball Complex.
