ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - With the rain holding off just enough, the UCF women's tennis team used an all-around effort to defeat Florida Gulf Coast, 6-1, Sunday at the UCF Tennis Complex. The Knights' Nos. 3-6 singles players surrendered just nine games and all three doubles pairs won easily to help their team improve to 4-2 on the season.

"We're playing some really solid doubles, the new teams are working out well," said head coach Stephanie Nickitas. "They had a great match on Friday and today as well, and I like how they are gelling together. The players went out and took care of business today, I liked the competitiveness and the spirit they had. Everybody really did a great job."

Two days after toppling Georgia Southern, UCF's No. 1 doubles team of senior Elvira Serrot and sophomore Jenny Frisell posted its second-straight 8-1 win by defeating Priscillia Vellemond and Joanne Power Sunday. Not to be outdone, senior Kenza Belbacha and freshman Andrea Yacaman got past Maggie Caulk and Eva Sambrano at No. 2, 8-3, and junior Katie Orletsky and freshman Christy Core breezed by Leah Johnson and Heather St. John at No. 3, 8-1.

After sitting out singles action in UCF's last two contests, Frisell returned to the lineup in impressive fashion, defeating Power at No. 3, 6-2, 6-0. Freshman Alexis Rodriguez blanked Johnson in the first set at No. 4 before posting a 6-0, 6-4 victory. Over at No. 5, Core gave up just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 triumph vs. St. John, and Belbacha had little trouble at No. 6, topping Brittany Wadsworth, 6-1, 6-0.

UCF's last point of the day came at No. 2, where Yacaman found herself down a set vs. Sambrano. However, the freshman fought back to take the second set as well as the super-breaker for the 4-6, 6-3, 1-0(10-6) victory.

The month of February will wrap up for the Knights when they host Eastern Michigan Feb. 26 at the UCF Tennis Complex at 2 p.m.
