FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF track and field team concluded competition in the Tyson Invitational on Saturday at Arkansas, getting personal records from two athletes and two more provisional qualifying times.
Junior Tiki James and freshman Jackie Coward had strong performances again in the 60-meter hurdles. After advancing to the finals with preliminary runs on Friday, Coward and James, who share the school record in the event at 8.25, crossed in a tie once again. The pair both ran the race in 8.33 seconds to tie for fourth place.
In the 800-meter run, freshman Katrina Skinner set a new personal record in the event to finish in 18th place, crossing the line in 2:14.06. Fellow freshman Sheila Paul also posted a new personal best in the 200-meter run, finishing in 15th with a time of 24.22.
Senior Dione Thomas claimed tenth place in the triple jump with a season-best leap of 41-2.50/12.56m.
With the indoor regular season of in the books, UCF will turn its attention to the Conference USA Indoor Championships in two weeks. The event will take place on Feb. 27-28 in Houston, Texas.
