Women's Tennis Begins Five Match Homestand

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - After completing a tough three-game road trip, the UCF women's tennis team returns to the UCF Tennis Complex looking to continue its home success. Fans are invited to attend all home matches for free with UCF kicking off the homestand Friday against Georgia Southern (3-2) at 2 p.m. and battling Florida Gulf Coast (0-2) Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Knights (2-2) took down Florida Atlantic, 6-1, on Feb. 7 in a total team effort as they played through injuries all weekend. UCF then traveled to No. 13 Miami Feb. 8 falling 6-1. Junior Katie Orletsky (Titusville, Fla.) captured the Knights lone point against the Hurricanes by winning at No. 6, improving her spring singles record to 3-0.

Georgia Southern began the season with victories over Kennesaw State, Gardner-Webb and Hampton. The Knights will be looking to even up the all-time record against the Bulldogs at three apiece, as Georgia Southern currently holds a 3-2 record.Georgia Southern senior Shea Huxtable, a Winter Park native, will be making a homecoming on Friday. She is the daughter of UCF football defensive coordinator Dave Huxtable and brother of UCF baseball infielder Jake Huxtable.

UCF defeated Florida Gulf Coast in its only previous meeting last year, 7-0. The Eagles have had a rough start to dual-match play by dropping their first two contests to No. 13 Miami and Florida Atlantic in January.

The Knights continue their homestand against Eastern Michigan, North Carolina State and Duke. Admission to all home matches at the UCF Tennis Complex is free.
