EL PASO, Texas (UCFAthletics.com) - Leading up to UCF's Conference USA contest at UTEP Wednesday, senior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.) has received some more national publicity. Gary Parrish of CBSsports.com has written about how two of the nation's top players will be squaring off in El Paso.
Taylor currently ranks sixth nationally in scoring at 24.0 points per game. The All-America candidate has paced the Knights in scoring in 22 of the team's 23 games this season. Wednesday's contest will pit Taylor against UTEP's Stefon Jackson. Jackson is 10th in the country in points per game (22.6).
Both players were selected to the All-C-USA Preseason Team in October. Jackson is the league's all-time leading scorer with 2,045 career points. Taylor is 10th (1,718).
UCF-UTEP will be aired on the UCF-ISP Sports Network and 740 AM in Orlando. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. Eastern.
The next chance for fans to watch Taylor play in person in Orlando is Saturday when the Knights host Tulsa at 7 p.m. at the UCF Arena.
