UCF Fastbreak - Feb. 1

Feb. 1, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - UCF's 79-74 overtime victory at Tulane Saturday gave the Knights an important first. Before the win in New Orleans, UCF had not won five-consecutive Conference USA contests since joining the league in 2005.

Head coach Kirk Speraw's squad began the streak on Jan. 17 with a 77-52 win at Rice. The Knights continued the success at home, defeating Southern Miss, Marshall and SMU.

UCF will have a chance to extend the streak to six games Wednesday when the team hosts Houston. Tip-off at the UCF Arena is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be televised live nationally on CBS College Sports.

The Knights have not won six-straight games since opening the 2006-07 campaign 6-0.

UCF (15-6, 5-2 C-USA) is currently tied with Tulsa for second in the league standings. No. 18 Memphis is atop the conference at 7-0. The Knights have nine regular season contests remaining this year. Four of the games are at home.

Wednesday's game is being billed as a Whiteout. All UCF fans are encouraged to wear white to the UCF Arena to support the Knights. Tickets for the game are available via Ticketmaster.
