FORT MYERS, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Visiting UCF (1-7) got 14 points and 13 rebounds from sophomore Emma Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) and led at one point in the second half, but Florida Gulf Coast (5-2) downed 12 three-pointers to down the Knights 77-64 in non-conference women's basketball action Sunday afternoon at Alico Arena.

After a hot-shooting first half, UCF struggled from the field in the second half. A strong start had UCF in the lead at 43-41, but the fourth foul by Cannon and the torrid shooting from Florida Gulf Coast freshman Kelsey Jacobson combined to spell doom for the Knights.

The Eagles used a 10-0 spurt capped by two threes from Jacobson to claim the lead for good, 51-43.

Moments later, Jacobson knocked down three more from long range and hit a pair of free throws during a 15-2 run that put the game away and gave the Eagles a 71-51 lead with 3:16 remaining.

Jacobson, scoreless in the first half, knocked down five second-half threes and a pair of free throws to finish with 17 points to lead the Eagles. As a team, FGCU hit 12-of-25 three-pointers for 52.1 percent.

Cannon (Rochester, N.Y.) scored the first six points for UCF as the Knights led by as many as three early. However, Cannon picked up her second foul less than eight minutes into the game and watched the final 12 minutes of the period from the bench.

The host Eagles took advantage of Cannon's absence, getting a combined 20 points from their two forwards, Adrianne McNally and Chelsea Lyles. Lyles scored 10-straight at one point to give FGCU a 33-23 lead with 3:01 remaining in the half.

Cannon finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds for UCF, her fourth double double of the season and fourth in the past five games. Foul trouble again limited her playing time as Cannon was on the floor for only 22 minutes.

UCF outrebounded Florida Gulf Coast 40-23 for the game, including 17 offensive rebounds that led to a 14-2 edge in second-chance points.

Sophomore Marshay White (Rochester, N.Y.) joined Cannon as the only other Knight in double figures, scoring 12 points off the bench. Freshman Aisha Patrick (Rockledge, Fla.) scored seven points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

The Knights responded toward the end of the half, and sophomore Jelisa Caldwell (Macon, Ga.) capped an 11-2 run with five points in the final minute to close the halftime deficit to 35-34. UCF had a 16-5 edge on the glass in the first half and knocked down 12-of-20 shots for 60.0 percent.
