Dec. 31, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF Athletics Association is mourning the loss of former student-athlete Sinan Sudas, who passed away Tuesday morning. Sudas was a member of the UCF men's tennis team from 2004-08. While completing his bachelor's degree, he worked as a student assistant in the UCF sports marketing office this fall.

"The entire UCF Athletics family is deeply saddened and shocked by the loss of Sinan," UCF director of athletics and executive vice president Keith R. Tribble said. "Sinan was a great young man who represented our men's tennis program and our university with great pride. He was passionate about UCF athletics and was a great representative of our school. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."

A native of Adana, Turkey, Sudas was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Bobby Cashman. As a senior in 2007-08, he earned a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

"Sinan will be missed by all of us here at UCF," Cashman said. "His loss is a shock to our team and staff. Sinan was kind to everyone he met and had a great impact on our program. He will always be a member of the UCF tennis family."

Following his sophomore campaign, Sudas was selected to the All-C-USA Second Team and also garnered Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete honors. As a freshman in 2004-05, Sudas helped the Knights earn a spot in the NCAA Championship and was named to the All-Atlantic Sun Freshman Team.
