ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Freshman guard Isaac Sosa (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) was clearly at ease in UCF's 110-68 victory over Florida Tech at the UCF Arena Friday. Sosa totaled a season-best 22 points and made 6-of-12 3-point field goal attempts.
Sosa was starting for the first time at the collegiate level and logged 31 minutes against the Panthers.
"I felt comfortable. I missed three in a row... my first three shots I missed them," he said. "I just kept shooting. I trust my shot and [the] coaches do too. I know I have the green light when I have open shots. So I just take advantage of that."
Sosa became the first UCF freshman to score over 20 points in a contest since Joey Graham totaled 21 versus Troy in 2001. The six treys for Sosa tied him for seventh on the school's single-game 3-point field goals register.
On the season, Sosa is second on the Knights in scoring, averaging 9.8 points per game. He has made 16-of-38 (42.1 percent) of his attempts from deep.
UCF will return to action Saturday, facing Florida in Jacksonville. The squad's next home game is set for Dec. 22 against Valparaiso.
