Team Notes
- The Knights hosted their second ever Homecoming game on-campus and move to 1-1. Last year, UCF defeated Marshall 47-13 at Bright House Networks Stadium.
- UCF is 19-10 all-time on Homecoming and 2-2 against Conference-USA opponents. Since joining the FBS, UCF is 10-3 on Homecoming.
- Since joining Conference USA, UCF holds a 9-4 record in November.
- UCF's 91-yard touchdown drive in the first quarter was the team's longest of the season and longest since a 99-yard drive on Nov. 3, 2007 at Marshall.
- The Knights are 11-6 in East Division play as a Conference USA member.
- Failing to get an interception for the first time since Oct. 13, 2007 against USF, UCF's streak of consecutive games with an interception ends at 16. The Knights entered the game fourth in the nation in interceptions with 15 on the season. (UNC 17, Cal 17, Iowa 16)
- Under head coach George O'Leary, the Knights are now 17-5 when leading after the first quarter. With a 6-0 lead, UCF was in front after the first quarter for the second-straight game.
- UCF forced a punt on Southern Miss' opening possession, the eighth time in nine games this season the Knights' foes have not scored on their first drive.
- The Golden Eagles did not score in the first quarter, the fourth time this season UCF has held its opponent scoreless in the first quarter.
- Chance Henderson's blocked field goal in the second quarter was the team's second of the season. The other was by Joe Burnett against USF on Sept. 6, 2008.
- UCF's starting secondary again included Joe Burnett, Johnell Neal, Sha'reff Rashad and Jason Venson. The quartet has now started a combined total of 171 career games. The quartet has 48 career picks.

Individual Notes
- Jason Venson's third-quarter fumble recovery was his second of the season.
- Sophomore Derrick Hallman set a new career high with nine tackles in the game. He had seven in the first half alone to tie his previous mark.
- Senior Antonio Wallace set a new career high with seven tackles on the night.
- Junior Jamal Geathers set new career highs in both tackles (7) and sacks (2.5).
His 2.5 sacks went for a loss of 21 yards.
- Sophomore Kamar Aiken had a season-high 63 yards receiving in the contest on five catches.
- Sophomore Blake Clingan broke UCF's single-season record with his 68th punt of 2008. He broke the previous mark of 67, set by Aaron Horne in 2004.
- Patrick Brown has now started a national-high 47 consecutive games at left tackle.
