? The contest began a home-and-home series for UCF and Valparaiso. The squads will meet in Orlando on Dec. 22.
? UCF and Valparaiso were meeting for the second time. The squads previously played during the 1988-89 campaign as part of the Tangerine Bowl tournament in Winter Park.

? The game provided A.J. Rompza with the opportunity to play in front of family members and friends. The Chicago native had between 50-60 supporters in the stands Tuesday. Valparaiso is an hour and a half from the Windy City.
? After not scoring in UCF's season opener versus North Carolina A&T Sunday, Rompza totaled 10 points against the Crusaders.
? In 26 minutes off of the bench, David Diakite totaled seven points and five boards for the Knights.
