ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Knights' fans can watch this week's UCF SportsKnight on Tuesday at 5 p.m. on Sun Sports. This latest episode provides a preview of the men's basketball season and the importance that senior Stephanie Serna's leadership has on the volleyball team.
UCF alumni Jeff Sharon hosts the 30-minute program that takes viewers inside the past week in UCF Athletics.
The program also airs on UCF TV several times each week. The UCF TV schedule can be found by visiting their website at ucftv.ucf.edu. Archived episodes of the program are also available via UCFAthletics.com, ucftv.ucf.edu and as a part of Bright House Network's OnDemand programming.
Last weekend's events were highlighted by the women's soccer team's 3-1 victory over Miami on Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and the men's basketball season-opening win against North Carolina A&T. The basketball team opened its season with a 81-62 victory with senior Jermaine Taylor recording the first double-double of his career with 28 points and 10 rebounds.
The SportsKnight Spotlight features the leadership of Stephanie Serna. The senior provides the team with an emotional leadership that has given the Knights an advantage on the court. Head coach Todd Dagenais talks about the qualities that Serna has in leading the Knights and previews of the upcoming Conference USA Championship in Memphis, Tenn. UCF plays its first-round match on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET against SMU.
Men's basketball head coach Kirk Speraw and Taylor, All-Conference USA Preseason Team member, will be on set to preview the 2008-09 season. UCF introduces eight freshmen that are likely to make an immediate impact for the Knights this winter.
Each week, the show provides highlights from the past week in UCF Athletics, including the plays of the week, and also features a news and notes section that presents the viewer with additional information on the Knights.
