One of UCF's goals for this season was to earn its third bowl berth in four years and to play in a bowl game in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history. The Knights have their backs to the wall with a 2-6 record on the year as they can still achieve this goal but must win their final four games to accomplish it.
This week the Knights take on a Southern Miss team which is in the same position of needing to win out to earn a bowl bid. The Golden Eagles soar into Bright House Networks Stadium fresh off of a 70-14 win over UAB. UCF has been stingy at home this year, posting a 2-2 record with both of the losses coming in overtime. This week, the Knights will also get an emotional boost from the school's annual Homecoming activities. UCF is 19-9 all-time on Homecoming, including a win last fall over Marshall in the first Homecoming ever actually held on the UCF campus.
