Women's Golf Heads To Tennessee This Weekend

Oct. 9, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. - The UCF women's golf team has played in two events so far this fall and, in both of those events, UCF has seen its team score drop from rounds one through three. The Knights will hope that this trend continues this upcoming weekend as UCF faces more top competition at the Mercedes-Benz Championships hosted by the University of Tennessee at the par-72, 6,058-yard Fox Den Country Club in Knoxville.

This week's field includes seven top-25 teams as UCF will face off against No. 9 Denver, No. 10 North Carolina, No. 18 LSU, No. 19 Louisville, No. 20 Kent State, No. 24 Texas A&M and No. 25 Arkansas. The Knights will also get a glimpse at some of their conference rivals as C-USA members SMU and Tulane are also teeing off this weekend in Knoxville.

The event features single 18-hole rounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Freshman Marika Lendl (Bradenton, Fla.) has been UCF's top finisher in each of this fall's events as three of her six rounds have been par-or-better. UCF's two seniors closed strong last weekend in the Tar Heel Invitational and will look to carry that momentum with them up to Tennessee. May Tomimbang (Kissimmee, Fla.) fired a personal season-low round of 73 on Sunday in Chapel Hill while Stephanie Connelly (Pasadena, Md.) also had her best round of the season, firing a 74.
