Rosenthal Honored as Conference USA Setter of the Week

Oct. 6, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The Conference USA office announced Monday that UCF sophomore Lauren Rosenthal (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was named the C-USA Setter of the Week after helping lead the UCF volleyball team to its first league-sweep at home against Marshall and East Carolina over the weekend. The honor was the second for Rosenthal this season after earning the award on Sept. 22.

"This is a really nice honor for Lauren to be recognized by the conference for the second time this year," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "She continues to run our offense at a very high level in giving us quality swing attempts on nearly every touch. This is a tribute to her for putting in the amount of work she has to be the best that she can be."

Rosenthal totaled 133 assists in 10 sets, an average of 13.30 APS, as UCF picked up league wins over two teams that it had never beaten prior in a league contest.

The setter had a career-high 67 assists in UCF's 3-2 win over Marshall Friday, a mark that ranks second in the league for an individual match, while adding five digs, three block assists and a service ace.

Rosenthal nearly matched her career-high Sunday against ECU, dishing out 66 assists in the five-set win. The sophomore also tallied five digs and two block assists.
