TULSA, Okla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Three Knights concluded the singles portion of the pre-qualifying rounds Saturday at the D'Novo All-American Championship at the Case Tennis Center. Senior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) went 1-1 on the day.
Sakey began Saturday by posting a 2-6, 7-5, 6-1 win over Nebraska's Francois Vanlmpe. In the third round of pre-qualifying, TCU's Zach Nichols held on for a 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-2 victory against Sakey. Nichols is seeded 19th at the 128-player event.
Junior Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) dropped a 6-1, 6-2 second round contest to Chris Nott of Arkansas. Due to an illness, sophomore Blaze Schwartz had to withdraw from his match Saturday.
On Monday, Beigart and sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela) are set to begin doubles play at the tournament. The pair will meet Ross Cunningham and Victor Kolik of host Tulsa. The Golden Hurricane team is seeded 13th at the event.
