ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The UCF men's tennis team will conclude its 2008 fall campaign at home this weekend, hosting the UCF Invitational. The three-day event which also includes players from Florida Atlantic, Georgia State and LSU, begins Friday morning at the UCF Tennis Complex.
On Friday and Saturday, UCF players will be in action starting at 9 a.m. at the flighted event. On Sunday, the Knights will hit the court at 11:30 a.m.
The tournament includes singles and doubles flights.
Head coach Bobby Cashman's Knights have posted a strong fall season. Two UCF players won singles titles at the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational in Winter Park on Oct. 12, including sophomore Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.). Schwartz and senior Tarek Ben Soltane (Tunis, Tunisia) each pace the Knights with six fall singles victories.
UCF fans will be able to watch one the nation's premier programs when LSU competes at the tournament. The Tigers finished last season ranked 18th nationally after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Championship.
Florida Atlantic is led by former UCF assistant coach Brandon Stokes. Stokes in his first campaign as the Owls' head coach.
Admission to the UCF Invitational is free.
The Knights will begin their spring schedule in January.
