Three Knights Win at D'Novo All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Three members of the UCF men's tennis team picked up victories Friday on day one of the D'Novo All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center. The trio of Knights moves on to the second round of pre-qualifying.

Senior Brock Sakey (Gulf Breeze, Fla.) had little trouble with Drexel's Carlo Pangilian, posting a 6-1, 6-1 win. On Saturday, Sakey will meet the tournament's No. 9 seed, Chris Chirico of Texas A&M Saturday.

Against Patrick Collins of host Tulsa, junior Johan Beigart (Vaxjo, Sweden) eased to a 6-2, 6-2 opening round victory. Beigart will face Chris Nott of Arkansas tomorrow.

Sophomore Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) moved on when his opponent, Old Dominion's Dan Couzens, withdrew. Schwartz will now play Franciso Riverall of Jacksonville.

Dmitry Lededev of Arkansas rallied to record a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win over sophomore Claudio Romano (Valencia, Venezuela).

The tournament consists of four rounds of pre-qualifying.
