Knight Football Players Address Multicultural Issues For Middle Schoolers

Oct. 23, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. - While passing the time during their 15-day layoff between facing Miami and Tulsa, members of the UCF football team have been busy doing good works in the local community. Sophomores Rashidi Haughton (Miami, Fla.) and Wes Tunuufi Sauvao (Leesville, La.) recently spoke at the Corner Lake Middle School in Orlando.

Corner Lake recently held a special assembly to help celebrate Multicultural Heritage Month and the two Knights spoke of their own ethnicities and appreciating others. Tunuufi Sauvao was particularly insightful as he discussed being born in Samoa and seeing the world while growing up in a military family as Wes' father, Eneriko, is in the U.S. Army.

Close to 1,000 students pakced the school's gymnasium for the speeches.

The Knights are back in action on Sunday night at No. 22/19 Tulsa and return home to Bright House Networks Stadium next Sunday night, Nov. 2, as the Knights play host to East Carolina at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are still available for the ECU game and can be purchased right here at UCFAthletics.com.
