C-USA Basketball Media Day Set for Thursday

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - A day before the official start of the college basketball season, Conference USA is slated to have its annual media league at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tenn. Head coach Kirk Speraw and senior guard Jermaine Taylor (Tavares, Fla.) will represent the UCF men's program, and women's head coach Joi Williams will also be in attendance at the event.

Williams will appear on the C-USA Women's Basketball Media Slam on CBS College Sports. The program features interviews with all 12 league head coaches and begins at 3 p.m. Eastern. Williams, who is entering her second year at UCF, is scheduled to join the show at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.

CBS College Sports will air the C-USA Men's Basketball Media Slam at 5 p.m. Eastern and Speraw and Taylor are slated to appear on the program around 5:10 p.m. Eastern.

The shows and other events at media day will be streamed live on conferenceusa.com. Both UCF programs will begin the year with official practices on Friday.

The women's team will open the regular season on Nov. 16 at Colorado. The Knights' home opener is slated for Nov. 21 at the new UCF Arena against Florida A&M.

The 2008-09 campaign will serve as Speraw's 16th season with the Knights. The squad is lead by Taylor, who is a C-USA Player of the Year candidate. He averaged 20.8 points per game last season and enters 2008-09 as the nation's 10th-leading returning scorer.

The Knights are scheduled to begin the regular season on Nov. 16, hosting North Carolina A&T. The squad will play 16 home contests, including a tilt with cross-state foe USF on Dec. 6 and a C-USA matchup with national power Memphis on Jan. 10. Season tickets are currently available.
