Final Stats

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Both Erin Campbell (Kansas City, Mo.) and Janine Williams (Gainesville, Fla.) posted double-doubles, while Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) and Jenny Heppert (Lawrence, Kan.) also added double-digit performances in kills to lead the UCF volleyball team to a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 26-24, 25-19) victory over Conference USA-foe Memphis (12-8, 3-3 C-USA) Friday night at The Venue at UCF. With the win, the Knights move to 13-6 on the season and 5-1 in league play.

After falling in the opening set, UCF battled back to win the next three sets, securing its place atop the C-USA standings. Despite both team's numbers being almost identical, the Knights outhit the Tigers .281 to .221, which included a .607 attack percentage in the second set, while matching the visiting team in both kills (60) and blocks (13). The Knights also had two service aces compared to none for Memphis.

"I think any time you can get a win in conference that is really important," head coach Todd Dagenais said. "We were able to play well enough to get a win. I think statistically, it was a pretty good battle between two equal teams. Kills were the same. Blocks were the same. Errors were practically the same. I think that we played better at certain points in the match, especially at the end of the second set and certainly in the fourth set. I thought it was a pretty equal match and it was nice to be able to win one of these at home, because in an equal match you are supposed to win those at home, and we were able to do that tonight."

With a match-high 19 kills and 10 digs, Campbell tallied her ninth double-double of the season and sixth-straight, while also adding a career-high three solo blocks. Williams recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs and added four block assists. Serna registered her ninth-consecutive double-digit mark in kills with 14, while Heppert had 11 kills, five total blocks and hit .500 for the match.

"We worked really hard to protect our home court tonight," Campbell said. "This is our home gym and it was something that was given to us this fall. We are going to do everything to protect it."

Lauren Rosenthal (Colorado Springs, Colo.) kept the Knights' offense running smoothly, dishing out 50 assists and recording seven digs.

Besides Campbell and Williams, freshman Kathleen Curry (Geneva, Fla.) also had double-digits in digs with a team-high 13.

UCF concludes its four-match homestand at The Venue at UCF Sunday when it battles league-foe UAB for the top-spot in the league at 7 p.m.
