ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF men's soccer team took a break from their in-season routine recently to participate in a session titled "Lead...Like You Mean It!" with Lisa Broesch of the InBliss Coaching and Consulting Company.
Set up by CHAMPS/Life Skills Coordinator Marcus Sedberry, the session targeted being an effective leader, not only as a student-athlete, but also as the players transition into their lives outside of athletics.
Before forming InBliss Coaching and Consulting Company, Broesch was dedicated to a 20-year career within the Anheuser-Busch Entertainment Corporation. As Director of Strategic Planning, Creative Development and Communications for SeaWorld Orlando and Discovery Cove Theme Parks, Broesch led multiple creative teams and theme parks. Over the years, her train-the-trainer programs and workshops have positively impacted millions of guests across the nation.
"We are always concerned and invested in better preparing our student-athletes for their futures after UCF," said head coach Bryan Cunningham.
In a 90-minute session, Broesch talked about the topic of leadership from a variety of angles, including how to step up as a leader, how to perform as a leader and the different styles of leadership.
The entire men's soccer team participated, and Broesch used role playing exercises that focused on the value of identifying one's strengths in order to be a key contributor to the team.
Coming off a 3-1 win at Marshall on Saturday, UCF returns to action on Wednesday, hosting Florida International at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex. The Knights are currently 5-4-0 on the season and will be looking to improve to 3-0-0 in Conference USA action.
