LAWRENCE, Kan. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Despite hitting .357 in its third-set victory, the UCF volleyball team fell at the hands of host Kansas, 3-1 (23-25, 10-25, 25-20, 17-25), in its final match of the Jayhawk Invitational Saturday afternoon at Horejsi Family Athletics Center. With the loss, the Knights fall to 3-4 on the season and finished the tournament with a 1-2 clip.

The Knights battled hard in the first set despite falling 25-23, before errors hampered their efforts in the second set, losing 25-10. But the resilient young squad bounced back in set three, 25-20, behind four kills from both Janine Williams (Gainesville, Fla.) and Stephanie Serna (San Antonio, Texas) and a solo block from Lauren Williams (Lake Mary, Fla.). The comeback was a little too late for the Black and Gold as Kansas held on to win the fourth and final set, 25-17.

Janine Williams posted 16 kills in the effort, marking the third-consecutive match in which she led all attackers, while also leading the Knights with a .222 hitting percentage. Serna also posted double-digits in kills in the match with a season-high 12 kills. Setter Lauren Rosenthal (Colorado Springs, Colo.) fell one dig short of her second double-double of the season, collecting nine digs and 39 assists.

On the defensive side of the ball, Lauren Williams held the Kansas hitters at bay, registering three block assists and a block solo, while libero Kathleen Curry (Geneva, Fla.) aided the UCF efforts by tying the match-high with 14 digs.
