ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - A four-year standout for the UCF women's soccer team from 2002-05, Jennifer Montgomery was selected as the head coach for the St. Andrews Presbyterian College program Thursday. She will begin her tenure in November when current head coach Stevan Hernandez takes over the role of Director of the Annual Fund at SAPC.
"I am very fortunate to have this opportunity at St. Andrews Presbyterian College to be my first head coaching position," said Montgomery in a SAPC press release. "St. Andrews has a great academic program and terrific support in athletics. I am very excited to be a part of it."
Montgomery lettered all four seasons in a Black and Gold uniform, and kicked off her career by being named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America Freshman All-American in 2002. That year, she tied Amy Jones' single-season record with 46 points by scoring 17 goals and adding 12 assists. She completed her career with 189 shots, 38 goals, 27 assists, 103 points and eight game-winners, all of which put her in the top 10 in each category.
A native of Colton, Calif., Montgomery helped lead UCF to NCAA Tournament appearances her first three campaigns, and to the Conference USA regular-season title in 2005.
Montgomery spent the past year serving as an associate head coach and player for the Brevard County Cocoa Expos of the Women's Premier Soccer League, while she also worked as a head coach and trainer for the Space Coast United Soccer Club. Other previous coaching duties include a volunteer assistant role for the Florida Institute of Technology and an undergraduate assistant with the Knights. Montgomery holds a United States Soccer Federation D License and a National Youth License as well.
Following her UCF career, Montgomery earned her bachelor's degree in liberal studies with an emphasis in business commerce and social behavior with a minor in sports coaching. She played four years in the United States Adult Soccer Association and three summers in the United Soccer League W-League.
