FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Jessy Tang shot a two-over-par 74 to lead the UCF women's golf team in its opening round of the 2008-09 season. Competing a loaded field at Vanderbilt's Mason Rudolph Championship that includes nine of the nation's top 10 teams and 16 of the top 41, the Knights stand in 16th place out of 17 schools after the first round of play.

UCF shot a 21-over-par 309 on the day. Oklahoma State is the first round leader with a two-under-par 286 at the par-72 Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.

Tang's 74 was good for 30th overall amidst fierce competition. Stephanie Connelly tied for 46th with her 76 (+4), May Tomimbang tied for 68th with a 79 (+7), Victoria Tomko tied for 72nd with her 80 (+8) and freshman Marika Lendl rounded out the Knights' roster on the day with an 82 (+10) which tied her for 81st overall.

Play continues with 18 holes on both Saturday and Sunday in suburban Nashville.
