Men's Golf Continues Olympia Fields Event

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. (UCFAthletics.com) - Competing against some of the best squads in the country, the UCF men's golf team is 11th after two rounds of play at the Olympia Fields Illini Invitational. The Knights posted a 296 (+16) during Saturday's second round at the Olympia Fields North Course.

The tournament includes eight of the top-30 ranked squads in the nation. The final round is set for Sunday.

UCF senior Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla.) carded a three-over 73 Saturday and is tied for 21st (145, +5).

In the team standings, the Knights (592, +32) are three strokes behind the 10th-place squad, No. 8 Florida State. Defending national champion and third-ranked UCLA is ninth at 588 (+28).

After carding a five-over 75 to begin the three-round tournament, UCF redshirt freshman Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) posted a two-over 72. He is tied for 28th (147, +7) after beginning the day tied for 41st.

Senior David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla.) and junior Simon Ward (County Monaghan, Ireland) are tied for 54th at 152 (+12). Freshman Blayne Barber (Lake City, Fla.) is tied for 65th with a 155 (+15).

No. 2 Oklahoma State leads the event at 572 (+12).

Kevin Foley of Penn State posted a one-under 69 Saturday. He is first in the individual standings (138, -2).
