Knights Continue Season-Opening Event

ROCKY FACE, Ga. (UCFAthletics.com) - Participating in its season-opening event, the UCF men's golf team continued play at the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Saturday. The Knights (590, +14) sit in 11th after two rounds of play at the 18-team event, which includes 13 of the top-30 squads in the nation.

In the second round Saturday at the Farm Golf Club, UCF posted a 301 (+13).

Competing in his first collegiate event, UCF freshman Blayne Barber (Lake City, Fla.) is tied for 8th at 143 (-1). After carding a 4-under 68 to lead the tournament after one day of action, he recorded a 75 in the second round.

The Knights are one stroke behind the 10th-place team, sixth-ranked Florida. Chattanooga leads the event at 574 (-5). Top-ranked Georgia (585, +5) is tied for sixth.

UCF senior Greg Forest (Palm City, Fla.) tallied a five-over 77 Saturday and is tied for 35th (148, +4). Redshirt freshman Brad Schneider (Valrico, Fla.) is tied for 47th at 149 (+5). He carded a two-over 74 in the second round.

Senior David Johnson (Palm Bay, Fla.) has registered a pair of three-over 75s to begin the event and is tied for 56th at 150 (+6). Junior Nico Donaldson (Windermere, Fla.) is also competing at the tournament and is tied for 79th (155, +11).

Clemson's Kyle Stanley (139, -5) leads the event after carding a 6-under 66 in the second round.
