ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The UCF cross country team will host its second event of the early season Saturday morning at the UCF Cross Country Complex. The inaugural Black & Gold Invitational will begin with the men's race at 9 a.m. before the Knights take to the course in the women's event at 10 a.m.
Both the start and finish lines of the course are located near the UCF Softball Complex on North Orion Boulevard. Team and spectator parking will be in lot E8 across from the complex.
"We should see some further improvements with our team this week at the Black & Gold Invitational," said head coach Caryl Smith Gilbert. "We have had very positive feedback regarding our new cross country course and last week's meet as a whole. This meet will be another stepping stone headed toward our goal of a great performance in Memphis at the Conference USA championships in early November."
In the season-opening Knight Attack Challenge last Friday, UCF claimed a second-place finish behind a strong team effort. The Knights, led by junior Erica Weitz' sixth-place finish and personal best, had four runners finish the race in the top 10. Allison Palmer, Ocean Cohen and Shantile Blackburn finished eighth, ninth and tenth respectively.
