Men's Tennis to Participate in Five Fall Events

ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - Members of the UCF men's tennis team will compete in five tournaments this fall, including the second-annual UCF Invitational, head coach Bobby Cashman announced Wednesday. The squad will open the slate on Sept. 19 at the Southern Intercollegiates in Athens, Ga.

The Knights will participate in three events in Florida during the fall. Starting Sept. 26, UCF will compete at the USF Invitational in Tampa. Cashman's squad will play close to home from Oct. 10-12 at the C.L. Varner Memorial Invitational in Winter Park.

The three-day UCF Invitational begins Oct. 31 at the UCF Tennis Complex. Florida Atlantic, Georgia State and LSU are slated to participate in the flighted tournament. LSU finished the 2008 spring campaign ranked 18th nationally.

Florida Atlantic will be familiar with the Knights as former UCF assistant Brandon Stokes is in his first campaign as the Owls' head coach.

Cashman expects the Knights to have representatives at the D'Novo All-American Championship in Tulsa, Okla. (Oct. 3-6).

UCF will announce its spring slate later this week.
