Lacing Up the Cleats With...Kacie Horner and Yvonne George

Sept. 10, 2008

While they may be busy taking on nationally-ranked programs and studying for difficult classes, members of the UCF women's soccer team still found time to answer some personal questions with UCFAthletics.com. Sophomore Kacie Horner and junior Yvonne George are up first in this year-long series.

Kacie Horner - So. - F - Franklin, Tenn.
What drew you to UCF when deciding where to attend college?
I was looking at a lot of other schools but the second I visited UCF and saw the campus, I knew I wanted to go here. I think the campus is probably one of the top 10 most beautiful college campuses so that is a plus. Also I had already met the team and I really felt welcomed here.

Describe your favorite soccer moment.
My favorite soccer moment is winning my high school state championship. We had only lost two games that season and we got revenge on both as we beat those specific teams in the semis and finals at state. Going back to school after that week and recognizing that everyone in the school was just as happy as we were was a great feeling.

What was your favorite personal experience that you have had in your life?
It would have to be graduating from high school and then going on a cruise with my family, friends and my friends' families. I always thought cruises were the best but this cruise was amazing since I was not only with my family but also with my best friends.

List your top three places you have ever been to.
London - Because I love the accent people have there, and because I just love the surroundings and how life is there.
Aruba - It's my favorite place by far because the water is absolutely clear and amazing.
Grand Cayman - The water is beautiful and every time I've been I went snorkeling with sting rays and it was a good experience.

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
I see myself, hopefully married, but teaching high school biology and anatomy.

What game show would you rather be a contestant on and why?
I would like to be on Deal or No Deal because it requires no skill and I would want to win money.

If you worked for CNN, would you be at the anchor desk, out in the field, a cameraman, a weatherman, a sportscaster or sitting in a cubicle all day away from the studio?
I would be a sportscaster because I'm an all around big sports fan and think it would be a lot of fun, not to mention interesting, working with sports.

Reflect on elementary school. Was there a project or moment you will always remember?
In third grade my teacher let me teach the class one day and I will never forget how excited I was.

As many CDs and DVDs as possible.

You have $50 to spend at Publix to stock up the kitchen. What do you get?
Wild Blueberry Granola--period.

You're going to play a 2-on-2 pick-up soccer game tomorrow and you can pick anybody who has ever lived to play with you, even if they never played soccer before. Who are those three people?
I would pick Mia Hamm, David Beckham and Michelle Akers.

Yvonne George - Jr. - F - Winter Springs, Fla.
Describe your favorite soccer moment.
Scoring with six minutes left in the game against Florida, especially since they ended our season last year. We always have a great rivalry, and it's always a great game when we play each other. Not only did we beat them at home, it was the first time in their 14 years of soccer at UF that they were beat on their season-opener at home.

What was your favorite personal experience that you have had in your life?
This past summer, a former UCF soccer player got married out in California. So a bunch of us current players and alumni went out there, it was the most fun I could have had in one week.

List your top three places you would like to visit.
I want to go on an Alaskan cruise, Australia and Italy.

What do you see yourself doing in 10 years?
I would love to work with a professional sports team doing marketing.

Where do you see yourself living in 10 years?
Southern California.

What game show would you rather be a contestant on?
Wheel of Fortune!!

Reflect on elementary school. Was there a project or moment you will always remember?
I'll just always remember my fifth grade teacher. She had so many class pets and was always so excited to teach us.

You have $1000 to spend at Best Buy. What do you get?
The biggest flat screen TV I can buy.

You have $50 to spend at Publix to stock up the kitchen. What do you get?
Well if I was allowed to eat what I wanted, probably candy. But since we have to eat healthy, then I get cereal, cheese, salad, fruits, water and lots of avacados.

Atlantic Ocean or the Gulf of Mexico?
Atlantic. I grew up in Central Florida, so the Atlantic is the one I always went to.

You're going to play a 2-on-2 pick-up soccer game tomorrow and you can pick anybody who has ever lived to play with you, even if they never played soccer before. Who are those three people?
David Beckham, I think you know why. Michele Akers, she's a beast. And Amanda Cromwell.
