ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFAthletics.com) - The debut episode of UCF SportsKnight, a 30-minute weekly television program, is set to air Tuesday at 5 p.m. statewide on Sun Sports. UCF Athletics and UCF TV have created a partnership to develop the program, which will focus on all of UCF's athletics programs.
UCF TV will broadcast the show several times each week, and episodes will be available as part of Bright House Networks' OnDemand programming. For the UCF TV schedule, visit ucftv.ucf.edu.
UCF graduate Jeff Sharon will serve as the show's host and co-producer. Prior to joining the UCF video services staff, he served as a sports reporter at a CBS affiliate in Georgia. Another UCF graduate, Brian Fernandez, also produces the program.
"We are proud to have this kind of partnership at a university that prides itself in productive partnerships," John Kvatek, UCF's director of video services said. "This program will allow all of our athletics programs to gain exposure and provides the opportunity to show fans all of the exciting happenings at UCF."
UCF TV is a division of the school's marketing, communications and admissions office. Two years ago, UCF Athletics partnered with UCF TV to produce a six-episode weekly all sports show that aired in the spring.
"At UCF TV, our goal is to capture what is occurring on campus. When the idea of an all-sports show came up, John and I worked out a great partnership," Richard Payne, UCF assistant vice president, operations and television services said. "We are really excited about airing UCF SportsKnight on UCF TV and look forward to continuing our partnership with UCF Athletics."
Episodes of the program will also be available on UCFAthletics.com and ucftv.ucf.edu.
Tuesday's debut episode will include a profile of new volleyball head coach Todd Dagenais and a look at the women's soccer season with head coach Amanda Cromwell. The show will also feature highlights from the previous week in UCF athletics.
