ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF rowing head coach Becky Cramer announced Friday she has hired Susan Cohen as one of her assistant coaches for the upcoming 2008-09 season. Cohen previously served as an assistant at Connecticut College.

"I am really looking forward to working with Susan, she brings a lot of energy and excitement and will be a great addition to our staff," said first-year head coach Becky Frost. "With her experiences at Ohio State, Connecticut College and with the U.S. Junior Development Camp, she really understands where we want to go and how to get there."

Cohen was the novice coach for Connecticut College beginning in 2007, where she helped with the development of an on-water training program as well as a weight circuit training program. Along with coaching the novice, she gained experience with the eights, fours and pairs.

The Camels' novice squad won a conference title under Cohen, while the novice four earned the gold medal at last year's New England Fours Championship.

Before starting a career in coaching, Cohen was a member of the Ohio State rowing team from 2002-06. With the Buckeyes, she won the National Buckeye Scholarship Award and also was an Academic All-Big Ten selection.

Cohen graduated from Ohio State with a bachelor's degree in linguistics.
