ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The 2008 football season is finally here. Before the Knights kickoff the campaign with a contest at Bright House Networks Stadium on Saturday against South Carolina State, several events are planned for UCF Football Opening Week.
Monday, Aug. 25
Join fellow UCF fans at Buffalo Wild Wings in Waterford Lakes for the George O'Leary Call-In Show presented by Advance Auto Parts. The head coach will be on hand for his weekly radio show, which is broadcast live on WFLA 540 AM in Orlando, starting at 7 p.m.
Wednesday, Aug. 27
Get ready for gameday by attending a pep rally between 8-9 p.m. on the plaza in front of the new UCF Arena. The Marching Knights will be on hand to get you fired up for Saturday.
Thursday, Aug. 28
Spend time with the Knights at the annual UCF Community Kickoff Luncheon. UCF student-athletes, coaches and administrators will head to the Orlando World Center Marriott for the event, which is organized by the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce. Members of the Marching Knights and the spirit squad will be in attendance at the luncheon, which begins at 11:30 a.m. For more information, visit www.orlando.org.
Friday, Aug. 29
Support the Knights by wearing black and gold on College Colors Day. College Colors Day is a nationwide initiative that celebrates and promotes the traditions and spirit of collegiate athletics. Visit www.ucfathletics.com to shop at the official UCF athletics fan shop.
Enjoy a meal with George O'Leary at Lunch with George presented by Tropical Ford. Head to the recruiting lounge at Bright House Networks Stadium to listen to O'Leary talk about UCF's season-opening contest with South Carolina State. Parking for the free event, which starts at noon, is available in the E5 and E6 lots at the stadium, and food will be provided by Firehouse Subs.
Saturday, Aug. 30
Before the game, learn UCF cheers and traditions inside the UCF Arena during Freshman Frenzy. The event begins at 3:45 p.m.
The Knights will return to Bright House Networks Stadium for the first time since claiming the Conference USA Championship last December. UCF will meet South Carolina State at 6 p.m. Season tickets for the 2008 campaign are still available by calling 407-UCF-1000 or visiting www.ucfathletics.com.
