ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Sophomore Blaze Schwartz (Pensacola, Fla.) of the UCF men's tennis team was recently recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as an ITA Scholar-Athlete. Schwartz was honored for having a grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
During the 2008 spring campaign, he posted nine singles victories for the Knights, going 9-2 at the No. 6 spot. In doubles play, Schwartz joined Tarek Ben Soltane to post a 6-2 mark at No. 3.
In the spring, Schwartz, an interdisciplinary studies major, was selected to the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Under head coach Bobby Cashman, UCF men's tennis players have garnered ITA Scholar-Athlete honors on 13 occasions.
