UCF Football Preseason Report - Aug. 11

Aug. 11, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Back in the afternoon Florida sun, the UCF football team completed day eight of its 2008 preseason camp Monday. The Knights worked out in full pads on the outdoor fields adjacent to Bright House Networks Stadium.

Head coach George O'Leary was pleased with the progress of the offensive unit.

"I think they came out today and did a much better job," said O'Leary. "The defense was blitzing a lot so they were giving them a lot of different looks. If we can handle that, the better the football team we are going to be. I thought the quarterbacks were a little better and I thought the offensive line got better."

Monday's practice served as an opportunity for UCF to continue to work on the installation and execution with the running and passing games.

The Knights will return for the second of three two-a-days with the morning practice running from 9:20-11:30 a.m. and the night session taking place from 7:10-9:20 p.m.

UCF's football fan day will occur Sunday afternoon at Bright House Networks Stadium. The free event, which includes an autograph session with the Knights, will begin at 4:30 p.m. UCF Athletics representatives will be on hand at the stadium from 1-6 p.m. to help fans make new season ticket purchases.

The annual UCF Community Kickoff Luncheon is set for Aug. 28 at the Orlando World Center Marriot. For more information on the event, visit www.orlando.org.

UCF's season opener is set for Aug. 30 against South Carolina State at Bright House Networks Stadium. The Knights will play six contests at the on-campus facility in 2008, with three slated for nationally-televised audiences.
