UCF Football Preseason Report - Aug. 5

Aug. 5, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - The temperature hovered around 90 degrees when the Knights concluded practice at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, but it felt like the fall for many UCF players. The morning workout was one of only two pre-noon sessions this preseason for the Knights, who practice in the morning during the season.

UCF's annual media day is slated for this afternoon. As a result, head coach George O'Leary moved the practice to an earlier start time. On Aug. 8, the squad will also practice in the morning and then have an evening session. No other morning practices are currently scheduled.

The Knights worked out on the practice fields adjacent to Bright House Networks Stadium Tuesday for two hours. UCF opened its preseason camp Monday and for the second-straight day, the team spent ample time working on fundamentals during individual drills.

Players, coaches and support staff members will pose for UCF's team photo inside Bright House Networks Stadium prior to media day. A year ago when the team gathered for the photo inside the stadium, it marked the first time that the majority of the squad had been inside the 45,000-seat venue.
The players were not the only UCF students associated with the football program who reported for duty this past weekend. Twelve student equipment managers are working with the squad this fall, up from 10 a year ago. UCF's sports video staff includes 10 students who are working preseason camp.
On Wednesday, the Knights will practice beginning at 3:20 p.m.

UCF will open the 2008 campaign on Aug. 30 at Bright House Networks Stadium against South Carolina State. The Knights will play six contests at the on-campus stadium.

Season tickets are currently available. To order season tickets, or to learn more about attending games at Bright House Networks Stadium, call 407-UCF-1000.
