Orlando, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Fall camp for the UCF football team is set to begin on Sunday night as players are set to report for a team meeting with the coaching staff and support staff. The Knights are coming off just the second 10-win season in program history and will begin defense of their 2007 Conference USA Championship when camp commences with the first practice on Monday.
That first practice is scheduled for 3:20 p.m. on Monday at the practice fields just south of Bright House Networks Stadium. The opening 19 practices of fall camp will be open to the public with a special 'Fan Day' scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 17 at 4:30 p.m. following that day's practice.
"We are all excited to get back on the field and begin preparations for the upcoming season on Monday," fifth-year head coach George O'Leary said. "We had a good summer of conditioning and the players put in a lot of hard work. Now, we'll get to see their progress on the field."
The Knights will open the 2008 season at home against South Carolina State on Aug. 30. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. for the home opener. This marks the first time since the 2004 season, O'Leary's first with the Knights, that the team has played a contest in August.
