Orletsky Joins UCF Women's Tennis

July 9, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF women's tennis head coach Stephanie Nickitas announced Wednesday that Katie Orletsky has joined the Knights after attending Arizona for two years. The Titusville native will have two years of eligibility at UCF.

"We are very excited to have Katie join our program. Katie brings a wealth of playing experience after competing for two seasons in the Pac-10," said Nickitas. "She was a highly ranked national junior player coming out of junior tennis. Even though Katie will be a newcomer, she has proven herself both on the court and in the classroom. I expect her to step into a leadership role along with the returning players."

During the 2008 dual-match campaign, Orletsky recorded 11 singles victories as a sophomore. As a freshman, she posted six singles wins for Arizona.

Orletsky will be one of four newcomers on the Knights squad this season. Three players - Christy Core, Alexis Rodriguez and Andrea Yacaman - signed National Letters of Intent with UCF in the fall.

In Nickitas' first campaign at UCF in 2008, the Knights won 12 matches, including a victory over Memphis to open the C-USA Championship.
