UCF Men's Basketball Top 40 - Ken Leeks

July 31, 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - At 6-foot-9, 240 pounds, Ken Leeks certainly was not the biggest player in UCF history. He just might have been the best big man to play for the Knights.

The center led UCF in scoring, rebounding, blocked shots and field-goal percentage for four-straight seasons (1988-92). Leeks ranks third all-time at UCF in career points (1,763) and is the school's all-time leader in both rebounds with 942 and blocked shots with 141.

Leeks was a member of UCF's first Division I squad that played in a conference as the Knights' competed in the American South in 1990-91. As a junior that year, he garnered second team all-league honors after averaging 17.5 points and 9.9 rebounds.

During his time at UCF, Leeks played under head coach Joe Dean. In Leeks' senior campaign, UCF played in the Sun Belt and he averaged 18.5 points, while shooting 58.3 percent from the floor.

After his senior campaign, Leeks was invited to participate in the Portsmouth Invitational and also played in the Orlando All-Star Classic, which featured many of the nation's top seniors performing in front of National Basketball Association scouts. Leeks never made the NBA, but he did enjoy a long professional career overseas.

One of only three players in program history with 1,500 points and 500 rebounds, Leeks was inducted into the UCF Athletics Hall of Fame in 2004.

Season tickets for the Knights' 2008-09 home campaign at the new UCF Arena are slated to go on sale later this summer.

For the latest news on the Knights, log on to www.UCFAthletics.com - the official site for UCF varsity sports. The site, which also contains ticket and Golden Knights Club donor information, is also the home of UCF's new online apparel store. The 2008-09 campaign will mark the UCF men's basketball program's 40th season. To commemorate the anniversary, UCF is unveiling the top-40 players in school history. Members of the UCF athletics communications office worked with UCF basketball historian Bill Beekman to select the best players who finished their collegiate careers as Knights. One player from the list will be recognized each Thursday at www.ucfathletics.com.
