ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF men's soccer incoming freshman Chris Feigenbaum will not only look forward to competing for the Knights this year, but he will get ready to hit the pitch on the worldwide level as well. Feigenbaum recently made the final cut to earn a spot on the Puerto Rico Under-20 National Team that is set to compete in late July.
Puerto Rico is one of four teams in Group B of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Caribbean qualification for the 2009 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Trinidad & Tobago. It will take on Jamaica July 23, Cayman Islands July 25 and Bermuda July 27, all on Grand Cayman Island.
Winners of the five groups and the four best second-place finishers advance to the Caribbean second round qualifying in September. The top team from each of those three triangulars along with the best second-place team will advance to the Caribbean Final Round scheduled for December. Eventually four teams from the 2009 CONCACAF U-20 Championship will move on to the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt in 2009.
Feigenbaum hails from Fayetteville, Ga., and will predominantly serve as a midfielder for the Knights. He competed for the AFC Lightning club team in the USSF Academy League and was a 2007 Adidas ESP participant.
