Sosa, Puerto Rico Continue Play at FIBA Event

FORMOSA, Argentina (www.ucfathletics.com) - Late Thursday evening, UCF freshman guard Isaac Sosa (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) scored 15 points as Puerto Rico fell 83-68 to Argentina in the semifinals of the FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Sosa and his teammates will meet Canada on Friday in the bronze medal game.

Sosa, who will join the Knights in August, logged 24 minutes against host Argentina. He connected on three triples and added three assists.

Puerto Rico began the eight-team, five-day tournament on Monday. The squad is 2-2 at the event.

After posting a 2-1 mark in group play, Puerto Rico qualified for the FIBA Americas U19 Championship next summer.

This past season, the 6-foot-3 Sosa was a Florida Class 1A All-State First Team selection at Grandview Prep in Boca Raton. He averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 assists and 6.0 rebounds.

Season tickets for the Knights' 2008-09 campaign at the new UCF Arena are slated to go on sale later in July.
