ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Blayne Barber, who will begin his career on the UCF men's golf team this fall, added to his impressive list of junior accomplishments this week. Barber (Lake City, Fla.) won his second Florida State Boys Junior Championship, taking the title at the Interlachen Country Club and Country Club of Orlando.
Barber, who signed a National Letter Intent with the Knights in the fall of 2007, posted a total of 9-under par 206 to win the championship.
He opened the tournament with a 66 (-5) on the Country Club of Orlando course. He recorded a second round 67 at Interlachen. In the final round, he carded a 73 at Interlachen.
The event served as Barber's last junior tournament. He also claimed the state championship in 2006.
In the fall, Barber will join a UCF squad that was among the nation's best in 2007-08. The Knights spent the majority of the campaign in the top 25, won a pair of tournaments and competed at the NCAA West Regional.
