ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - UCF won 48 contests in a two-year span from 1979-81. Roland Ebron was instrumental in the Knights' successful seasons.
The 6-foot-1 small forward served as the squad's sixth man after transferring to UCF from Broward Community College in 1979. The following campaign, he became the team's go-to-guy on offense.
On a squad that featured All-America Bo Clark, Ebron provided a spark off the bench for the Knights as a junior in 1979-80. He averaged 10.1 points and shot 54.3 percent from the floor for head coach Torchy Clark's team.
UCF was one of the top Division II squads in the nation that season and finished the campaign with a 25-4 mark. The team began the year with 15-consecutive victories and participated in the NCAA South Regional in Lakeland, Fla. The Knights scored over 100 points on nine occasions and finished second nationally in points per game (91.7).
Without Bo Clark, Ebron handled more of the scoring duties for the Knights in 1980-81. As a senior, he averaged a team-high 15.2 points, while shooting 53.7 points per game. Ebron led UCF to a 23-5 mark and another appeared in the NCAA South Regional. The Fort Lauderdale native earned a spot on the All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team and was also named to the league's all-tournament squad.
Season tickets for UCF's 2008-09 campaign at the new UCF Arena are slated to go on sale later in July.
