ORLANDO, Fla. (www.ucfathletics.com) - Sophomore Kyle Cobb (Tallahassee, Fla./Leon) of the UCF men's golf team had a strong performance at the opening event on The Collegiate Players Tour this week, tying for second at the Orange County National in Winter Garden, Fla. Cobb opened the three-round tournament with an eight-under 64 and finished at 212 (-4).

Cobb tied for second with Florida Tech's Lance Gillett. Bryce Easton of Texas-Arlington claimed the tournament title with a 203 (-13).

In its 15th year, The Collegiate Players Tour provides summer golf competition for college-aged men and women. The tour is sanctioned by the Golf Coaches Association of America and the United States Golf Association.

As a freshman in 2007-08, Cobb competed in three events for the Knights, including the NCAA West Regional in Bremerton, Wash. In April, he was the top UCF player at the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Ark. Cobb tied for eighth at the event and was the only rookie to finish in the top 10.
